What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): When working as a personal assistant for a disabled person, its essential to be empathetic and understanding, listening carefully to their unique needs and challenges. Patience is key, as some tasks may take more time, and it’s important to remain calm and flexible when adapting to changing needs. A personal assistant should also be adaptable, ready to find creative solutions to challenges as they arise. Respecting confidentiality and the person’s privacy is crucial, as well as maintaining clear communication to ensure their needs are being met. Being attentive to detail, whether it’s remembering schedules or medications, shows care and helps prevent oversights. If the role requires physical assistance, having the strength and dexterity to help safely is important, but it should always be done with care. A positive attitude can make a big difference, creating a more uplifting and supportive environment. Its also vital to respect the persons autonomy, helping them maintain independence and make their own decisions when possible. Finally, being reliable and punctual is a must, as the person depends on you for important tasks and routines.


How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I have personal experience with supporting individuals who have specific needs, as my son has ADHD and Autism. This has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to meet those needs and help someone maintain their independence. As a caring and compassionate person with a lot of patience, I am genuinely driven to support others and help them reach their full potential. I have a proactive get-up-and-go mentality and always bring a positive attitude to everything I do. With an BA (Honours) Degree in Teaching and an NVQ Level 2 in Teaching Assistance, I’m also well-equipped to assist with numeracy and English, should the need arise.


What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): What appeals to me about personal assistant work is the chance to make a real difference in someone’s life. As the parent of a child with ADHD and Autism, I have a deep understanding of the challenges individuals with disabilities face and the patience required to support them. I’m passionate about helping others achieve their goals and maintain independence, and I find it incredibly rewarding to bring out the best in people. With my caring nature, proactive attitude, and teaching background, I believe I can offer practical support while helping build confidence and foster independence. Plus, my qualifications in teaching allow me to assist with areas like numeracy and English, which makes this role even more appealing.


What are your hobbies/interests? (required): My hobbies and interests are centered around spending quality time with my son. We love playing games together and watching series’ like Stranger Things. I also enjoy cooking and hosting for friends, which gives me a chance to get creative in the kitchen and bring people together. Additionally, I like to stay active by going to the gym, which helps me maintain a healthy balance in my life.
