PM1540 Personal Assistant Please quote reference PM1540 on application, Apply Now A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am lady in my 70s living in Tonyrefail with my husband and he is my main carer. In 2014 I experienced the first of four major strokes. This was very severe and has affected my speech and ability to swallow and resulted in right sided weakness, as a result of this I have expressive and receptive dysphasia and cannot verbalise my needs beyond saying yes or no and continue to suffer with mini strokes. I am intellectually capable of understanding but sometimes I need more time to answer, given the information is provided with clear wording. I have always been a very independent person and know my own mind. I have worked all my life and my career history includes such things as Biochemistry and working with blood analysis within the NHS. My interests used to include crafts such as sewing, embroidery and painting. I enjoy watching television in general now. PURPOSE OF JOB I require some 2:1 support with washing and dressing and personal care with a track hoist, to keep me safe at home, assisting me with my personal care, helping me maintain the independence I have. PLACE OF WORK At home and out in the local community HOURS OF WORK 16 hours per week Will include weekend work and cover other PAs during sickness and annual leave. RATE OF PAY £15.40 per hour plus double pay on bank holidays TASKS INVOLVED Assisting me with personal care (including toileting, changing, bed bath Moving me from bed to chair and back again by ceiling hoist Pushing me in my wheelchair where necessary on hair wash day Assisting me with eating when necessary TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone patient and understanding, who is able to empathise. Someone who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. A mature outlook on life. Someone who will gently encourage me to remain independent. Manual handling will be necessary, we can also provide training ABOUT THE JOB This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
