I enjoy football, the gym, music, gaming (especially Rocket League and handheld gaming), arcades and going out for food. I like routine, consistency, and spending time doing the things I enjoy. I respond best to people who are calm, patient, and able to communicate clearly and directly, with a sense of humour. At times I can experience anxiety and frustration, particularly if I feel under pressure or things don’t go as expected, so having the right support around me is really important. I enjoy being active (e.g. gym), which helps me manage my energy and emotions positively. I am developing independence skills and will be starting college soon, so support should focus on building confidence and autonomy PURPOSE OF JOB The role is to support me to: Access community activities and social opportunities Build my independence and confidence Manage situations that may cause anxiety or frustration Prepare for adulthood, including attending college and developing life skills The successful PA should help me focus on reducing triggers and promoting positive routines, independence and emotional regulation. PLACE OF WORK In and around the local area of Pontypridd HOURS OF WORK 10 hours per week Monday – 2 hours Wednesday – 2 hours Friday – 2 hours Saturday – 4 hours (including support to attend football) RATE OF PAY £15.00 per hour plus mileage allowance when using your car TASKS INVOLVED Support me to access community activities such as football, gym, gaming venues, arcades and eating out Accompany me to football training, matches and other leisure activities Encourage independence, including decision-making and trying new experiences Provide reassurance and calm support when I feel anxious or frustrated Recognise early signs of distress (e.g. raised voice, tense body language, withdrawing) and respond appropriately Support me to use positive coping strategies, such as taking space, going for a walk, or engaging in calming activities Avoid placing unnecessary pressure or demands and use a flexible, person-centred approach Support me to safely engage online and in the community where appropriate Promote my wellbeing while respecting my choices and boundaries at all times. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Be calm, patient and understanding, particularly during times of anxiety or frustration Give me space when needed and avoid escalating situations Use clear, direct communication and be mindful of tone of voice and body language Understand that too many demands or pressure can be overwhelming and may trigger behavioural responses Be aware that I can be sensitive to loud environments and sensory input Be able to build a positive, trusting relationship over time ABOUT THE JOB This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
