Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I have worked in industry for over 40 years, in a variety of positions throughout the UK. More recently completing my BA in Post Compulsory Education and Training. From this I have also completed teaching contracts with various Colleges and secondary schools in South Wales.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I am open minded and positive person with good communication skills at all levels. I like to be be able to help people achieve their full potential and look for ways in which I can help them achieve this.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am adaptable and can change my approach depending on the needs of those who I am working with.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): It gives me the opportunity to help an individual overcome their difficulties. I believe that this will allow every day to have the possibility of achieving a success.
What are your hobbies/interests?: I have played Welsh League football (a few years ago and hold a Welsh FA Football Leaders Award), badminton, tennis, golf (badly) and overcame my fear of water when my wife and I had children, so learned to swim in my late 20s. I am currently Group Scout Leader with my local Group and hold Scouting qualifications in Hill Walking, Archery and Bell Boating. I like to do something every year that I have not done before. (currently a long list)

Please use the box below.: I have been a Scout Leader for about 30 years and completed their DBS, Safety Training, First Aid, Safeguarding, General Data Protection Regulations. I am also an Expedition Assessor for Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for Bronze and Silver levels. Enjoy walking. Since Lockdown started in March 2020 I have been unofficial career for a 95 year old neighbour who fell and broke her leg in June. I have been keeping her company and ensuring she eating correctly and generally helping with odd jobs.

Further Information: During my time as a Scout Leader I have had a number of Scouts through my Sections who have had both physical and learning issues. All have achieved more than their parents thought possible when they initially joined, because they were treated as one of the Scouts.
