Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am a friendly, hard working, chatty 40 year old woman. I have always cared for my elderly grandparents until they sadly passed away recently. I do shopping and house keeping chores for 2 sets of elderly neighbours and my parents, more so over the pandemic, and enjoy having a chat. I am conscientious and will go above and beyond in all I do. I have 2 children who I adore and care for.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I think that being a good listener is important, as well as being patient and being able to communicate with people of all levels, and to get along with other care givers. I would also be respectful whilst being in someone elses home and being accountable and responsible for the care given. I think that a person needs an understanding of physical and mental health of people of all ages and how it can impact on the person and family.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I feel that as a personal assistant for a disabled person, even though I would be there to help and assist, I would also want them to have the autonomy to choose and control what I could do to help them. After all, they are the person at the centre of the care and require the support Everyone has individual needs and I feel that every person has different requirements. There are five main aspects of personal health: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual. In order to be considered well, it is imperative for none of these areas to be neglected and that would be my job. I feel it would be my duty to make sure that safeguarding was in place and I would ensure that I reported any issues to the main care giver, or whoever was in control of the clients care plan.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I would like a job where I am making a difference to someone, this is what I would find personally rewarding. I love speaking to people and meeting new people and building relationships. I also like the flexibility of the hours which I can work around my life, which would be better for my well being.

What are your hobbies/interests?: I love spending time with friends and family, especially my children and my 2 dogs. I like going for walks, swimming (in the sea and a pool! ) eating out, cooking and trying new foods. I love watching crime dramas and documentaries. I like to potter in the house and garden as I am quite a home bird.
