Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am currently studying an NVQ level 3 in health and social care. I have personal experience in caring for others who have disabilities, my brother is autistic and I have also spent time assisting my mother who was a PA for a young lady with learning difficulties. I have spent time in the community with my brother helping him overcome many barriers and understand the importance of being consistent in building a trusting relationship.


What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I am empathetic, patient and friendly. I also have good boundaries and flexible in my approach, i am able to adjust the way i react to the situation, believing there is a reason behind a behaviour and will try my best to understand what is actually going on so a situation is resolved as quickly as possible. The need to be consistent and following actions through is important in helping to build trust in the relationship.


How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I believe in empowering others , always prompting and encourage them which will help build confidence in making their own decisions. The smallest of change is a big step and should be celebrated. I am a positive person and positive reinforcement is so beneficial for someone to keep moving forward.


What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): Everyday will be different and I want to make a difference I am passionate about everything i do and enjoy meeting new people. Every day is a chance to learn something new and i want to be the one that is there and encouraging and experiencing that.


What are your hobbies/interests?: I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. I like going on trips to the beach and take part in amateur dramatics. I am always singing and dancing.

Further Information: I am seventeen years of age, turning eighteen in June. I do not have a licence at present but am learning. I have family living in Cardiff with whom I can stay with to be in easy reach of work.
