I have worked in the care sector for 5 years. I have worked in domiciliary care and care homes. I have worked in the charity sector for Age Cymru Gwent where I worked with people to access care and help them apply for benefits they were entitled to. I am currently a PA. I have a lot of experience of caring for people. I have experience of manual handling and first aid and have a QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

It is important to me to follow the persons wishes when we work together. I maintain confidentiality and treat people with respect and dignity at all times.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

It is important for me for the people I work with to keep their independence and for me to help them through encouragement and guidance. I am a positive person and will assist you to be independent and access the community.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I enjoy working with people and helping them to access their chosen activities or the community. I enjoy spending time with people and learning and expanding my current knowledge. I enjoy helping people in any way I can to stay independent.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoy reading, watching films, walking, bird watching, photography, going to the theatre, cinema, visiting historic monuments, cooking and gardening.
